John T. Santini, Jr., PhD -- President & CEO

Dr. John Santini is a life science executive, entrepreneur, and scientist that has spent his career focused on the creation and growth of businesses developing advanced drug delivery and biosensor products. As President & CEO of On Demand Therapeutics, Inc. (ODTx), Dr. Santini is leading the development of a physician controlled drug therapy product for the treatment of retinal diseases such as wet age-related macular degeneration. Prior to ODTx, he led the development of wireless, implantable drug delivery and biosensor devices as President & CEO of MicroCHIPS, Inc. Dr. Santini is a recognized expert in the application of microtechnology in healthcare and has over 100 patents and patent applications. He has been honored as one of Popular Science Magazine's "Brilliant Ten" and one of the Top 100 Young Innovators in the world by Technology Review Magazine, and his work resulted in a Technology Pioneer award from the World Economic Forum (Davos, Switzerland) and a Gold Medal from the Edison Awards in the Science and Medical, Game Changers category. Dr. Santini obtained his PhD in chemical engineering from MIT as a National Science Foundation Fellow and his BSE in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan.

Cynthia L. Stevenson, PhD -- Vice President, Pharmaceutics

Dr. Cynthia Stevenson is Vice President of Pharmaceutics at On Demand Therapeutics. Dr. Stevenson brings 20 years of experience in drug development spanning a variety of therapeutic areas and drug delivery platforms. Previously, she developed peptidomimetics as Senior Director of Product Development at Ethos. Dr. Stevenson was Director of Drug Development at Nektar Therapeutics, where she played multiple roles in the development of insulin for pulmonary delivery (Exubera®). She was Associate Director of Formulation Development at Alza Corporation (now J&J), where she was a co-inventor of novel formulations for the Duros implant and provided leadership for the approval of the leuprolide implant (Viadur®). Dr. Stevenson's leadership has resulted in two successful NDA approvals and the entry of seven drug candidates into clinical trials. She has also held scientific positions at Glaxo Research Institute and The Upjohn Company (now Pfizer). She received her MS and PhD degrees in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at The University of Kansas and her BA in Chemistry at Colorado College. Dr. Stevenson has authored over 90 peer reviewed publications, presentations, and patents.

Jonathan R. Coppeta, PhD -- Vice President, Engineering

Dr. Jonathan Coppeta is the Vice President of Engineering at ODTx. Prior to ODTx, Dr. Coppeta spent nine years developing the core technologies for long term Class III drug delivery and biosensor implants at MicroCHIPS as the Director of Mechanical and Materials Development. In this role, he invented key enabling technologies including a room temperature hermetic sealing technique compatible with sensitive drug formulations and sensor chemistries and a novel amperometric sensor design for a long-term implantable glucose sensor. He and his team were responsible for many device development activities including MEMS design, mechanical packaging, formulation filling, biocompatibility testing, and materials selection and testing. Prior to MicroCHIPS, Dr. Coppeta developed novel technologies in the optical telecommunications field for Axsun Technologies. Several of his patented inventions were transitioned into manufacturing of optical subsystems currently deployed in the field. He is an inventor on 8 issued patents and 7 patent applications spanning the fields of medical devices, biosensor design, hermetic sealing, and microfabrication. Dr. Coppeta earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and BS degree in Chemistry and Physics from Bates College.
